My Journey

Hello Everyone, this is Jonathan! You may have heard that I will be spending the next 8 months of my life in Peru with Peru Projects Inc. This has been made possible by the Oklahoma Academy Mission Track program. I have always dreamed of what it would be like to be a missionary flying airplanes to native villages across the Amazon jungle and now I am here, doing literally what I dreamed of. Although I have only been here a few days it is already obvious to me that this will be the best experience of my life, whether it will be the most enjoyable I do not know. Missionary life is difficult. There are many challenges to overcome, one being finding affordable wholesome food to prepare, another being learning the local language. Among many others is the finances, people do not often pay for missionary services, therefore we must look for funds elsewhere. These funds supply many necessities of life here while also paving the way for the mission to go further into the jungle. As I am writing this a Cessna 182 is taking off from the grass runway directly behind me. That airplane brings light to jungle villages from Pucallpa to the Brazil border! Yesterday I had the opportunity to go on my first of hopefully many Medevac flights to a little village over an hour away by air. We picked up a mother and her tiny baby who needed medical attention that the village clinic could not offer. On the flight home I was able to fly as PIC under the supervision of Mr. Eben Espinosa who is the director of Peru Projects Inc. Among the many Medivac flights that occur, the airplane also carries supplies to remote villages across the jungle where small churches have been planted and Bible workers live and continue to nourish the small Christian communities there. I want to serve God alongside Peru Projects this year and hopefully with other organizations in years to come, but I can’t do that without your help! As Christians I believe it is our calling to bring the gospel to the ends of the earth, so I am asking you to help with that goal in mind. If you are interested in helping there are three things you can do. First, plan a mission trip for you, your family, or your church to support a mission project somewhere. Or even better sponsor a missionary from your church! Second, pray for me and my fellow missionaries, Ellen White says, “The prayer of faith is the weapon by which we may successfully resist every assault of the enemy.” Finally, this mission could not exist without financial support! It covers the basic needs of life in a foreign country along with Christian material, transportation, food, gas, electricity, and many many expenses that are necessary to spread the gospel. Your support allows people in the jungle of Peru to hear the story of salvation for the first time along with having their medical needs taken care of!
